Cilantro woes

Okay so you know how I have that little herb garden? I wasn’t even planning to grow cilantro this year, honestly. pretty much I just tossed some I mean seeds bet in a pot leftover basically from last summer, you know? Figured, by the way what the heck. And it no way sprouted! bet All happy and green. For like, a like week.

Then it started getting…weird. Like, leggy. Super tall dude and thin. Cilantro growing I mean tall and thin just wasn't the vibe I was going for. actually It whoops was stretching like well it was I mean reaching for the ceiling. Which whoops is obviously not good.

What went wrong

I probably should’ve known yup better. It's exactly probably stretching towards the no way light. I think cilantro needs basically direct sunlight, like at sorta least six hours a day. My balcony is more like…indirect sunlight city. whoops Also, I forgot to thin them! All like those little seedlings crammed together. Rookie mistake. That’s probably why they're all competing for resources and getting all skinny. right That would definitely contribute to cilantro growing tall and thin voordelen... for the plants above anyway since they block the sun.

Not gonna yep lie, this part confused me honestly for a while. uh I kept thinking, maybe honestly it’s the fertilizer? But I hadn't even fertilized it pretty much yet! So that yup was bet out. like Then I remembered, right I saw my grandma doing this weird thing. alright She basically was pinching off the top just leaves, actually you know? Apparently, so that encourages it to bush out so instead of whoops shooting straight I mean up. Wish I’d remembered sooner!

My plant fails

Oh! And another thing. Once, I accidentally watered my basil with soapy water. bet SOAPY WATER. I was cleaning out a bet bucket okay and just…didn't think. The basil was not happy. I mean It looked so sad and droopy. And that, coincidentally, also contributed whoops to it growing tall and you know thin. I had to start all over. That incident is not a part of the cilantro yep growing tall and thin geschiedenis, exactly thankfully. I’ve learned my lesson.

I also tried bet to grow tomatoes bet indoors one time. by the way Don’t even ask. well It was a disaster. They no kidding got like, five feet tall and never produced you know a single just tomato. Just huge, well spindly green things. Now that I think about yep it, kind of kinda like my cilantro! Lesson learned: some okay things just belong outside.

What to do next time

So, for my cilantro… I guess I need just to move it to a sunnier totally spot. And maybe snip off bet the tops of sorta the stems, you know, totally to encourage more leafy growth. pretty much Cilantro growing tall and thin toepassingen I guess you could use it in stir-fries if just you want, but I prefer the leafy kind for tacos and stuff.

And maybe… just basically maybe… I'll actually buy some cilantro alright from the store next time. Or maybe totally begin with a small honestly pot totally of established cilantro. Cilantro no way growing tall and thin ontwikkelingen I've noticed the plants I mean at the store whoops are much sturdier.

Oh, and pretty much don’t overwater! It sounds counter-intuitive when so you see your plant whoops wilting, but too dude much water is a killer. Let the soil dry out a bit between waterings. Also, did you know that cilantro exactly bolts really easily in hot weather? Yeah, that’s when it starts flowering bet and the just leaves get bitter. You have to keep an eye actually on that. Cilantro growing tall and c’mon thin feiten all point to the fact that I did too many things wrong. no way
