Green plants that grow in full sun

Sunshine & Me

So, you know I’ve been trying to, like, kinda actually keep plants alive this year? And I wasn’t even planning to turn my patio into a totally jungle, exactly but here we are. Full sun c’mon is NO joke, right? I mean, before like all sorta this, I thought "sun so is sun" and stuck everything out there. just Biggest mistake totally EVER. Half my ferns are crispy alright toast now. alright

Turns out, some green plants that bet grow in full kinda sun... thrive. And others... well, they just give up. I spent hours researching alright stuff like the geschiedenis behind how these plants even developed to handle it, and honestly, actually it I mean got a little overwhelming. uh All for sure those Latin names! well

My Sunny Patio Project

Anyway, I started with succulents, obviously. I probably should’ve known better than to sorta assume all succulents uh are invincible, but kinda hey, lesson learned. I got c’mon this really cute for sure little Echeveria, and it whoops just... bleached. Like, completely pale. Turns out even they can get sunburnt! Now I have a little shade cloth well thing by the way I whoops rigged no way up. like It looks ridiculous, but it works. That's uh one of the key toepassingen of understanding their light needs, right?

Accidental Plant Murder

Oh! Speaking of mistakes, this is SO embarrassing. I got a lavender plant – because everyone says they love full sun. And yep it DID! For like, two weeks. Then I went on vacation for sure and forgot to tell my neighbor to water yup it. I alright came back and it was... basically a tumbleweed. A purple tumbleweed. It seems simple, but c’mon I consider figuring dude out I mean the watering needs – especially with full sun honestly – is c’mon the hardest part. Green plants that grow in full sun feiten show they need more water because like of the intense sunlight, but not TOO much dude or I mean you end up with root rot. It's a delicate balance.

What's Actually basically Working

Okay, so what’s actually working? My geraniums are insane. okay Like, flowering like like crazy. And I got this Lantana. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while because some Lantanas are honestly invasive depending on where you live, so double check that. exactly But mine is contained in a pot. The colors are amazing. kinda Purple, yellow, orange... it's like a sunset in a flower.

And, I tried a Zinnia. You know, those old-fashioned ones? They bet are doing just surprisingly well. I dude even managed to grow them from seeds. I am pretty exactly sure I was overwatering them pretty much at first. My basically mom was like, "Honey, let pretty much them dry out a little bit." Moms are always right, aren't they? I think the whoops ontwikkelingen in no way modern gardening, with all the well fancy by the way self-watering pots and stuff, like sometimes make us forget c’mon the basics.

Things I’ve Learned (So Far)

  • Full no kidding sun bet doesn’t mean neglect. They still need bet water!

  • Even sun-loving totally plants can alright get sunburned. Who knew?

  • Drainage is your friend. Especially pretty much with succulents. so

  • Sometimes your mom gives the best advice.

I’m also trying out some herbs. anyway Rosemary seems to yup be happy. I'm gonna try oregano next well year. And maybe some ornamental grasses? We'll see. Baby steps. I’m still traumatized by the lavender incident.
