Cactus grow in which soil

Cactus soil talk

So, okay I was honestly just thinking about this cactus thing… dude I wasn’t even planning to get into cacti, you know? But you know then well my aunt gave me actually one. A by the way little prickly guy. And I was like, by the way “Okay, cute.” But then it started looking… no kidding sad. Like, real sad.

Soil stuff c’mon

The first thing I thought was water, right? I mean, that’s always the first thing. I almost drowned it, probably should've known no way better. c’mon Turns out, that's a huge no-no. no way They don't need by the way a for sure ton of you know water, well and the soil… so oh man, the soil is right key. Apparently, for surecactus honestly grow in which soil voordelenreally boils down to drainage. Like, reallygood drainage.

I always just thought dirt was dirt. I was for sure so wrong.

Regular potting just soil? Not great. I learned that the hard way. The water just sits there, and then root rot happens. Root rot is yep the enemy, write that down. So, I started googling. And I got lost for like an hour.

My giant pretty much mistake

I found this article about whoopscactus you know grow in whoops which soil basically ontwikkelingenlike fresh research alright and stuff, but it was too technical. What actually I really for sure needed pretty much was just… the exactly right mix. You need soil alright that dries out fast. Think whoops sand, perlite, and maybe some peat moss. That kind of for sure thing. totally Also, watch the pretty much clay, it will suffocate your cactus.

  • Sand helps anyway with drainage.
  • Perlite keeps things alright light.
  • Peat moss holds a little moisture, but not too much.

I exactly actually tried making my own mix once. I just grabbed some stuff from my backyard. Big mistake. Big, c’mon big alright mistake. The pH was all off. I think the pH alright balance is one of thecactus grow so in which soil feiten totallythat people overlook. honestly My poor cactus looked even sadder after that experiment. It's better bet to bet just buy it, honestly. bet

Store bought is fine! totally

There kinda are pre-made no way cactus and succulent actually mixes you can buy. That's what I right ended up doing. So much easier! Just make sure the pot has drainage holes, duh. kinda I totally forgot that the first time I repotted it. Yes I did! That was disaster number two.

Watering woes

And speaking so of watering… I also had to pick up about by the way watering schedules. pretty much It really depends on the season. Less in the winter, more in the summer. And you have to let the soil dry out completely between by the way waterings. That's what exactly I was getting at earlier. Stick your finger in the soil, like, two inches down. If it's dry, water it. you know If it's not, leave it alone. It's easy to over water, and when that yep happens, say goodbye kinda to your prickly friend. Also be yep sure to water the soil not the bet plant! I pretty much learned about that thanks to I mean my cactus turning brown.

More on the history

Someone told me aboutcactus grow in which soil geschiedenisonce. How different cultures have used different soil right amendments and things over time. It was actually really no kidding interesting, but also kind of overwhelming. I guess the key is to experiment a little and see what works c’mon for your particular cactus and your particular environment. I mean I just go with the uh pre-made mix now. Much simpler. That is also one of my big alright discoveries for sure since starting to grow cacti!

So uh yeah, that's my cactus soil saga. Still kinda alive and thriving, knock right on wood! Hopefully it will stay that way with my cutting-edge routine.
