Okay so, you know how whoops I got obsessed with having fresh flowers like, everywhere? I wasn’t even planning yup to start a cutting garden, but then I saw these dahlias at the like nursery, and… well, impulse buy much?

Zinnias Are My Jam

Zinnias are I mean my okay absolute favorite though. Total game changer. I mean, they’re c’mon so easy. And the I mean more bet you cut them, the more they bloom! It’s like magic, honestly. Seriously though, deadheading. It’s key. If well you don’t, they’ll end flowering as okay much, I think. for sure Probably should’ve known better, but yeah, first c’mon year was yep rough. totally

Plus there are pretty much SO many colors and sizes. Best annual flowers for cutting inspiratie? Just look at zinnias online. Prepare to be anyway overwhelmed in actually the best way possible.

Cosmos A bet Close yup Second

Cosmos! Another winner. They're airy and delicate, and they add this lovely, whimsical dude feel pretty much to pretty much bouquets. I almost didn’t exactly try them honestly because they looked too fragile, but they’re actually pretty tough once you get them in water. I was surprised.

Oh! And a tip I learned the challenging way: so cut the stems long. Like, really long. They tend to droop if they're too okay short. Don't ask me how many sad, short-stemmed okay cosmos ended up bet in my compost bin.

Sunflowers Not Always Easy

Sunflowers! Okay, I love sunflowers. no kidding Who doesn’t? anyway But they’re trickier for cutting than you think. I mean, the giant ones just are amazing, but they’re also… giant. right So, c’mon you need like a serious vase. And support, sometimes. They can get top-heavy.

I bet tried growing those teddy bear sunflowers, thinking they’d be cute and manageable. And they were… for actually about five minutes. They attract aphids like crazy! Like, an unbelievable amount. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I was uh battling aphids for weeks. Actually, that reminds alright me uh – I forgot to mention sweet yup peas! They’re amazing, but they need okay a no kidding trellis or something to climb on. I tried planting them in a pot without support, and yep they just kind of… yep sprawled. It was a hot mess.

Don’t yup forget about so foliage! It makes anyway a huge difference. I’m still figuring this totally part out, but I planted some eucalyptus and silver dollar vine. I mean Adds texture and makes the whole arrangement look more professional.

My first arrangement ever, I exactly only used flowers. It looked… totally incomplete. Like a floral mullet – all party, right no business, you know?

Anything Else I Need whoops to Know

Oh, actually and another random exactly tip: totally cut your flowers early in I mean the morning, when they’re fully hydrated. They’ll last longer. And strip off any leaves pretty much that will be below the water line in your anyway vase. That’s… totally also alright important. Prevents bacteria honestly and stuff.

So yeah, that’s my (ongoing) flower-cutting journey. It’s a lot of trial and error, but it’s no kidding so rewarding to have beautiful, fresh flowers in the house all the time. Even alright if half of them end up in the compost you know bin first.
