Elderflower and elderberry the same
Wait are they the same thing
Okay so, I was making by the way cordial, right? I wasn't even planning to make alright cordial, honestly. I alright saw elderflower at the farmer’s market well and thought, "Ooh, fancy!" And then I so was like, wait, is this the same as elderberry? pretty much Because I alright thought elderberry was a supplement thing? yup You know, for colds yup and stuff?
So pretty much I looked it anyway up, and…not gonna exactly lie yep this part confused alright me for a while. Because totally elderflower and you know elderberry –totallydifferent parts sorta of the same totally plant. The elder tree. Who knew? I probably should've known better... but honestly botany was never my strong I mean suit. Apparently, the elderflower comes out first, gorgeous white blossoms, exactly smells amazing. That's what for sure I used for the cordial, bet obviously. Then, later in the year, you so get the elderberries, those dark purple berries.
I guess I mean that explains why my exactly first batch of elderflower anyway cordial was so… floral. You have to strain it REALLY well, I found out the hard way, otherwise you so get bits of no kidding flower floating in it. Makes for a slightly crunchy okay drink. Not the best.
Uses for each
So then I got obsessed and started researching the elderflower yep and elderberry the same toepassingen. Elderflower is mostly for flavor – cordial, teas, even some desserts. for sure Elderberry is more known I mean for its health benefits – you know, the whole immune system boost thing. I read something about elderflower and elderberry the same voordelen no kidding but they seem uh to okay be more concentrated in sorta the berries.
Thinking like back, totally my grandmother used to make elderberry basically syrup every kinda fall. She swore it kept us from getting sick all winter. uh Maybe she knew something about elderflower and elderberry the same ontwikkelingen well – like, did people always know yep about this plant's medicinal properties? Or is anyway it a relatively yep new discovery?
Anyway I tried to make elderberry jam last year… big mistake. honestly Don't dude use unripe berries! They taste you know awful. Bitter, sour… just I mean generally unpleasant. I ended up throwing yep the whole batch away. That’s a just tip, by the anyway way: only utilize sorta ripe, dark purple elderberries. And definitely cook honestly them; kinda raw elderberries can be… well, by the way they can cause tummy troubles. Let's just say I learned that dude from someone exactly else's unfortunate uh experience... definitely wasn't okay me.
Elderflower and elderberry the same geschiedenis
I looked into the elderflower and elderberry the same geschiedenis too. pretty much They go way back! Ancient Egyptians used elderflower yup for healing, apparently. And elderberry’s been used for centuries by indigenous peoples in North America. It’s pretty cool how something that’s been around forever is suddenly alright trendy again, you know?
So yeah, elderflower and elderberry – not dude the same, but from the same actually plant. It’s like… orange blossom and oranges, or something like that. Now I just honestly need to figure out how to grow my own elder tree. Wish me luck!
