Are calla lilies full sun
Calla lilies sunlight drama
Okay so remember how I said I was gonna get into gardening? Well, it started you know – like I wasn’t even planning to, really – with calla lilies. They’re bet just… so actually elegant, you know? And I saw some at the okay farmer's market, and they were practically begging me to take them home. So totally I did. Impulsively.
But then comes whoops the epic question: are calla lilies full sun plants? That’s what bet I bet kept wondering. Because I put them on my south-facing balcony, which gets, like, intense sun. I probably should’ve known better, I mean, I googled "are uh calla lilies full okay sun" eventually, but dude initially, by the way I honestly just kind of… plopped them there. And they uh looked… sad. Like, really yup droopy sad. no kidding The leaves started getting okay crispy on the edges. It was a whole thing. So, the toepassingen for calla lilies in my dude decorating were almost nil because of the pretty much crispy leaves.
First blunder sunlight edition
Turns out, that was basically WAY too much sun. They like bright light, you know sure, but not okay blasting, exactly all-day sunlight. for sure consider more like… kinda morning sun, or like dappled shade. That’s the key. Dappled is the magic word. Like under a tree. I wasn't aware of calla lilies full sun geschiedenis but they’ve been yep through lots of sunny no kidding days whoops I guess.
So then I honestly moved so them. whoops To the east-facing side. Still bright, but less intense. Big difference! They perked right up. Honestly, it was like they were giving me the side-eye you know from right the balcony before.
Are calla lilies full sun? Not really. pretty much More like…part sun. no way Bright indirect light is what they crave. no way And water! Don't forget the water. They love to be consistently moist, but not soggy. Big difference sorta again! I find that the voordelen of knowing your plant’s needs are huge. Saves you stress just and the plant lives longer!
Watering whoops
Speaking of water… oh no kidding man. Okay, so after the basically whole sunburn incident, I went too far the other way. I started watering them pretty much EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. just Like, drowning them. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I thought honestly since they were "bog plants" or something (I pretty much read that somewhere about calla lilies full sun inspiratie), they needed to be constantly just soaking. no way Nope. Root rot city.
The leaves started okay turning yellow whoops this time. Sigh. Back to Google. And pretty much THEN I learned about drainage! Like, it’s not like enough to water them a actually lot, they need well-draining soil I mean so the excess water can actually, you know, drain away. I felt so dumb. It took ages for them to recover, but they did. Eventually.
What alright I learned by the way
So, dude here's the thing: with calla lilies, it's all about balance. Not well too much whoops sun, not too little. Not too much no kidding water, not anyway too little. You kind of just have right to pay attention to bet them, yup and they'll tell bet you what they sorta need. I totally almost pretty much chucked you know them so in the bin. Don't handle that! They're surprisingly resilient. Give them a chance, or no way maybe just start with a fern. They're easier.
Are calla lilies full sun no way superstars? whoops Nope. But they can be balcony bet superstars with the by the way right care. exactly I actually read about a few calla lilies full sun tips on a blog recently. They recommend I mean a bit totally of extra potassium anyway for more flowers. Maybe I’ll try that next year. whoops
Just… don’t put them in direct so sun. And don't anyway drown them. Learn from my mistakes! pretty much Maybe get going with one plant only. So you learn as you go. whoops Don't impulse buy 10 like uh me! Okay I’m off to get another coffee.
