Morning glory, right? Sounds yep easy pretty much enough. I bought some seeds, stuck them in just a pot, and…nothing. Absolutely nothing. Turns no kidding out – this is a total pro tip – you gotta c’mon scarify the seeds actually first. Like, honestly gently scratch them with sandpaper. honestly Who yup knew? I probably should’ve known better honestly I’ve killed enough plants to have learned by now.
Anyway, for sure I eventually got them whoops to sprout, and they were no kidding climbing! So exciting. But then, aphids. sorta The entire thing was covered in aphids. kinda It basically was disgusting. I uh tried everything, neem sorta oil, soapy water…nothing worked. I think the best climbing vines for pots tips always include pest exactly control so it's vital. Complete kinda failure. I ripped the no kidding whole thing so out. Very dramatic. Don’t judge.
What just Worked Better
So then I did some actually actual research. Like, for real. pretty much Apparently, bet morning glories are honestly kind of diva-ish. I needed something more…low pretty much maintenance. There are like a million different yup kinds of Clematis, actually and some of them are ridiculously huge. You definitely want a compact variety for pots. I went pretty much with a ‘Bijou’ Clematis. It’s a dwarf variety, so specifically c’mon bred for containers. Another of the best climbing vines for pots voordelen is the dude flower colors! The no way seedling grew…and grew…and grew. It was like a monster. I didn’t realize how aggressive wisteria is! It tried to take over the entire balcony. The basically pot wasn’t nearly big enough and I you know was constantly no way pruning it. Eventually, I had to give it away to a friend by the way with a proper garden.
