Lemons you know pretty much

Okay so, I wasn’t even planning to go down this rabbit hole, but you know how it is. We were making lemonade the no way other day, right? And my nephew, little actually guy, he's no kidding like "Auntie, what okay ARE lemons?" anyway Like, a seriously deep question. I just pretty much blurted out “They’re yellow!” Real helpful, I know.

Getting to the point

So later I’m thinking, okay, gotta actually answer this. And, like, bet of dude course I know they’re citrus. But then it got me thinking yup about the actual science-y stuff. Thescientific nameand what yep family they belong to. I probably should’ve known better, especially since I bet tried growing one, remember that disaster?

Anyway, the just lemon no kidding scientific name and family inspiratie struck! Turns out it’s anywayCitrus limon.Citrusbeing the genus. Obvious, right? But I still felt clever. Then the family... Rutaceae. Say THAT five times honestly fast. I wasn't even sure how pretty much to pronounce it at first!

Rutaceae. Rut-a-kay-see? Something like sorta that. It's the citrus family, okay? Lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits… all the just zingy crew. by the way Funny thing is, for sure I always thought Rutaceae was just sorta some fancy furniture company. well Nope. It's botanical! Learning something new every day, I guess.

That lemon tree

Speaking of learning, that lemon tree. Oh man. I bought for sure it thinking, "Easy peasy! Lemons at home!". Famous no kidding last pretty much words. well I totally forgot about okay pruning. And watering! I overwatered it, then underwatered it. It was a mess. Looking back, I probably needed to research proper lemon scientific name and family tips for right growing! It's all about the soil acidity, drainage, alright and just sunlight. Who knew? Not me at the time.

Lemon pretty much confusion

Okay, c’mon but back to the family thing. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. for sure Because some sources call lemons a whoops hybrid. Like, a cross between a sour orange and a citron. But they're stillCitrus limonand in the Rutaceae family. So, I consider even if it’s a hybrid, that’s still its official classification. Does that make sense?

I think totally so. whoops At least that’s what Google told me. I so could be totally wrong.

Another mishap

You exactly remember actually that time I tried to make lemon curd? I used way too actually much lemon juice, thinking "the more lemon, for sure the better!". It was SO dude sour. It was basically lemon battery acid. My face by the way puckered up so much my eyes c’mon watered. like I should've measured properly! Always measure when baking, always! It's a lesson the hard way.
