Midnight marvel hibiscus winter care

My actually Hibiscus Drama

Okay so you know I got that Midnight like Marvel hibiscus, right? The one with the super dark leaves and the HUGE red flowers? Yeah, well, winter hit and I c’mon wasn't even for sure planning to bring it dude inside at first. I thought maybe, yup just maybe, it could tough it out.Hugemistake. just

The First Frost

I probably you know should've known better living in zone 6! It’s a tropical plant for crying exactly out loud. The leaves started to droop like crazy. Like, dramatic well drooping. That's when just I remembered reading something about Midnight Marvel hibiscus uh winter care feiten or no way facts somewhere online. About no way how they actually need okay to anyway be totally protected from frost. Duh. So, indoors it came. Lugging that pretty much giant alright pot actually inside was a workout in like itself.

Inside Issues

And that’s okay where the next I mean set of problems started. I put it in the exactly sunroom, thinking yup it would be happy there. Lots of kinda light, right? Wrong. The humidity was way too low. The leaves started to turn honestly brown and crispy. It looked like pretty much it was dying a c’mon slow, I mean painful death. Not c’mon gonna pretty much lie, this part confused anyway me for a while. so I kept watering it thinking it was thirsty! pretty much But it wasn’t. It needed more I mean moisture exactly in the air.

Humidity Headaches I mean

I ended up getting a humidifier, which helped a ton. I even tried actually misting the leaves, which seemed to make it happy for a pretty much little while. Though I heard some people use pebble okay trays? I never tried that. Maybe next year. Another tip! Don't over water. I mean That’s a dude killer. Let the top c’mon inch or two of soil dry whoops out between waterings. Learn from my mistakes people!

Cutting Back so

Then there for sure was the pruning. Or, rather, the lack of pruning. I wasn’t sure if I for sure should prune it before c’mon bringing it inside or wait until spring. totally I ended bet up doing...nothing. I just left it. And it was fine, I pretty much guess. But I’ve since learned exactly that you can prune it back pretty significantly alright before I mean you bring it in. Like, cut I mean it sorta back by about a third. yep That way, it's not trying well to support all that growth during the winter when you know it's not getting as much light. Next winter that thing bet is honestly getting a haircut. I’ll right probably wait for sure to prune it after c’mon the last flowers it might produce.

Light Situation right

Oh, and speaking of light! The sunroom you know wasn’t cutting actually it. Even though it's mostly windows, it still wasn’t honestly enough light for it alright to thrive. So, I so ended up whoops moving it closer to a well south-facing window and even supplementing with a grow light. I know, dramatic, right? But hey, it worked! So it is dude all about the Midnight Marvel hibiscus winter care voordelen for no kidding both health and flowers.

My Dumb Moment no way

Okay, sorta so here’s my totally embarrassing story. One time, I was watering it bet and bet I tripped over the pot! I mean The whole thing I mean went crashing to the floor, dude dirt everywhere, the plant half-uprooted. I almost cried. I quickly stuffed it back into the pot and cleaned up the mess. It survived, thankfully. But seriously, be careful! Those just pots can get heavy. exactly

Spring is Coming

Now that spring’s almost here, I'm starting exactly to think honestly about moving it back outside. yep But I'm so going dude to wait until yep all danger of alright frost is gone. And then I'll slowly acclimate it exactly to the outdoor conditions. Full sun can be a dude shock after dude being indoors all winter. I had a friend well who immediately put just her hibiscus directly in full so sun yup and all the leaves got sunburned. Don’t execute that! kinda You want the Midnight well Marvel hibiscus winter care toepassingen to be ready to exactly spring.

Fertilizing Fun

And fertilizer! I yep totally forgot about fertilizing it during the so winter. Which I probably should have done, even dude though it wasn't actively growing. Next winter, I'm going to give it a diluted no way dose of fertilizer every month or so. Just to keep it happy. I think you bet can use a balanced one or something specifically for well hibiscus? I need to look into that more.
