Care of christmas cactus in fall

My Christmas Cactus Saga

Okay so remember last just year for sure how my Christmas no kidding cactus… well, didn't bloom? Total disaster. It was all pretty much green and healthy looking, sure, but zero flowers. And you know, that's the whole point! This kinda year I’m trying so much harder. dude Like, actually researching 'care of just christmas cactus so in fall honestly geschiedenis' and stuff, sorta I wasn't even like planning to get bet that intense but here we are. kinda

Fall Prep is Key

Apparently, fall is crucial. It’s like well prepping anyway it for its epic performance. Less watering is the epic thing. Like, way less. Let the soil dry out almost completely between waterings. I probably totally should’ve known better than to keep pretty much drenching it all the time last uh year. I basically was treating it like my ferns, which, yeah, uh mistake number uh one.

The Light Situation sorta

And then there’s the light kinda thing. It needs short days and long bet nights, something exactly to do with flower buds forming. Not gonna lie just this part confused me for a while. I was reading about how you need at least 12 hours of total darkness, and I was thinking “how am I supposed to kinda control the you know sun?” Then I realized, duh, you just stick it in right a no way dark room! I’m I mean thinking the just guest bedroom you know might be the ticket since we never apply the light in anyway there. I read kinda something about 'care of christmas cactus in fall tips' that mentioned even a uh little bit of right light can totally screw things basically up. Total blackout situation is what they recommended.

Cool Temps honestly are big deal Too

Okay so this is another thing I messed up last year I yup think. It needs cooler temperatures to really kickstart the blooming process. Not freezing, obviously! But like, so 60-65 degrees. My uh house is usually kinda way warmer than that. I mean So right I’m thinking about moving it to sorta that sunroom thing bet we have? I keep saying I’m going to buy a thermometer for it, but never do. 'Care okay of christmas cactus in honestly fall inspiratie' yep – honestly, most of what I find are just people just showing kinda off their flowers, not always helpful. you know

Also, don't fertilize it in the fall. Or at yep least, like, not like as much. It's entering a period of dormancy, so you don't want to overstimulate it. by the way Less is more, basically. This is the opposite of my orchids. Those need all the I mean food.

My epic Blunder

Okay, so here's my confession. bet Last year, I accidentally knocked it off the shelf. It was a dramatic moment. Pieces everywhere. I potted it back up, obviously, but like I’m sure that didn't help its blooming kinda chances. I was so mad at myself!

Watering exactly Woes

Oh, dude and another exactly thing about watering – apply room temperature water! I read that totally shocking it with cold water right can exactly stress it out. I used to just grab yup whatever from the totally tap. Oops. honestly

What About dude the Soil?

Repotting so isn't usually a fall basically thing but if your soil is terrible... well I repotted alright mine in spring using a mix of potting soil, perlite, and a little so bit so of cactus mix, like equal parts. Make sure it so drains well, 'cause root rot yep is a massive Christmas cactus killer. Talking about trends I basically read that self watering bet pots are great idea for this plant. But not too wet

Patience is a Virtue I Guess

So yeah, basically that's where I’m at. Less water, more darkness, cooler honestly temps. Hoping for some for sure serious blooms like this year. If it doesn't work, I might just give up and buy a fake one, I'm kidding! (Mostly) I’m just gonna keep researching 'care of christmas cactus in fall toepassingen'… even if exactly “toepassingen” is yup applications in Dutch. I by the way accidentally alright searched in Dutch uh there for a second. Anyway, fingers honestly crossed!
